Who We Are

A peer-led approach to peer workforce development

The Empower Collective LLC prepares people with lived experience to become highly effective peer professionals, and builds the routes into specialized roles and future leadership. Our work begins with lived experience and treats it as a qualification to be developed.

01

We prepare. Training, readiness support, and professional peer identity development for people whose experience has never been treated as a qualification.

02

We mentor. Nonclinical peer supervision, coaching, and work-based learning that carry people through the first hard year of a new career, not just the first day.

03

We advance. Structured pathways into specialized peer roles and leadership, plus employer partnerships that make those roles real and reachable.

Our operating principle
Peer first. Specialty second. Leadership third

Our work begins with lived experience, develops professional peer identity, and supports advancement into specialized roles and future leadership.

Our Mission

Careers, not just credentials

The peer workforce is growing faster than the pathways into it. We build the pathways.

The Empower Collective was founded by individuals with lived experience navigating mental health challenges and addiction within families, communities, and service systems. That perspective shapes everything: support is offered, not imposed, and every person defines the terms of their own progress.

Certification alone does not make a career. Our mission is to prepare people thoroughly, mentor them through the transition into professional work, and open real advancement into specialized peer roles and leadership, while helping employers recruit, prepare, retain, and advance the peer professionals they need.

What We Do

Prepare. Mentor. Advance

Three commitments that run through every program we operate and every contract we deliver, both for the individuals building peer careers and for the organizations employing them.

01 Prepare

Ready for the work, not just the test

Peer workforce training, readiness support, professional development, and the practical groundwork of entering a workplace: ethics, boundaries, documentation, and the professional peer identity that holds it all together.

02 Mentor

Nobody walks in alone

Mentorship and nonclinical peer supervision from people who have done the job. Volunteer, internship, and work-based learning placements give real experience before the first paycheck depends on it.

03 Advance

A next step that actually exists

Specialty tracks, leadership development, and employer partnerships that turn an entry-level peer role into a career with somewhere to go: outreach, navigation, care coordination, supervision, and beyond.

Why It Matters

Good peer jobs change two things at once

A well-prepared, well-supported peer professional changes the trajectory of their own life and the quality of care for everyone they serve.

01

Experience Becomes Expertise

Lived experience is treated as a professional qualification to be developed, supervised, and advanced, not a story to be told once in an interview.

02

Stronger Retention

Peer professionals leave roles when they are isolated, unsupervised, and unclear on what comes next. Mentorship, nonclinical supervision, and visible advancement keep people in the field.

03

Economic Mobility

A prepared peer workforce means real wages, real benefits, and real advancement for people who have often been locked out of both, in the communities where they already live.

04

Better Served Communities

Organizations gain peer professionals who understand documentation, ethics, and boundaries from day one, and who reflect the communities they serve.

05

Equitable Access

We work to remove the financial, educational, technology, and practical barriers that keep qualified people out of the peer workforce entirely.

06

Locally Invested

We build the peer workforce in an Diego with people from San Diego, so support stays relevant, respectful, and rooted where we live.
